It’s All in the Details: Selecting the Right Contractors

orlando drywall repair finding the best contractorAfter you’ve met with a designer and laid out the master plans for your home remodeling project – whether you’re tackling the bathroom, the kitchen, or somewhere else – it’s time to start searching for the right team for your job. But a quick Google search for “remodeling contractor in my area” pulls up thousands of results and ratings. How are you supposed to sift through and find a match?

As the Orlando drywall repair team at New Ceilings knows, the contractors you select for the job can make or break the overall project. Here are 3 things to take a close look at to help you recognize the quality of your contractors’ work:

  • Interior paint. A quality interior painting job involves so much more than just finding the right colors. When you’re examining your new house paint (or checking out someone else’s), take note of the texture of the walls. Does it feel like it has lumps, bubbles, or drips? That’s the sign of a poor-quality or rushed job, and you should probably look for another painter.
  • Tile installation. It’s a little easier to visually check for a quality tile installation than it is to check a paint job. Tiles that are installed properly will be lined up neatly, with all tiles laying flush with the surface. Grout should be flat, unless the contractor is specifically using an out-of-the-box method. If you’re seeing weird grooves or the tiles are wonky, it’s time to move along.
  • Cabinets and countertops. Counters and cabinets should be created specifically to fit their space, so it’s fairly easy to tell when they haven’t been measured properly or when the work was done in haste. Take a look around the edges of your counters and between panels. If there are big gaps or there is a lot of caulk to help reduce the size of those gaps – you guessed it, this contractor isn’t the right one.

When it comes to picking the best drywall repair contractor, vetting their work can be a little more difficult than eyeballing it – but if you’re looking at a recent repair, you shouldn’t be able to tell when the new drywall starts and the old wall ends.
